Jim Kanas, guitars; Doug Lofstrom, bass; and
Chris Ussery, piano. Collectively these veteran artists have performed with numerous well know musicians within a broad eclectic scope of genres. They play straight ahead jazz, swing, blues and originals.

Jim Kanas is most known as a multi-instrumentalist roots musician and was featured on WTTW11, Chicago PBS. Jim is an award winning
jazz guitarist. "Jim is a world class guitarist.... I knew right
away he was a world class guitarist." Multi Grammy award winning,
Victor Wooten. The Chicago tribune calls Kanas
" ...a master..." Chris Ussery, a California transplant to Chicago,
has composed for television and film since the 70s. He has played piano with Muddy Waters, Howard Roberts, Patti Page, and Mac Davis
to name a few. Composer and bassist Doug Lofstrom has been composing prolifically and his diverse scores reflect his ongoing involvement in theater, dance, film and symphonic music. His works have been performed by the St. Louis, Atlanta and Oregon Symphony Orchestras, and the Present Music and CUBE chamber ensembles.

OPEN HOUSE CELEBRATING TEN YEARS OF THE NACHUSA GRASSLANDS HEADQUARTERS BARN

3pm to 6pm is an open house with folks stopping in for a short or long visit. We will have a new slide show playing in a loop that shows all the steps in building the barn. Worth coming just for that! Want to see some prairie? Short 20 minute tours of the Headquarters prairie, or Isabel’s Knob will be ongoing. Eat snacks, see how the building looks, and say “hi” to friends and acquaintances. We will have cheesy door prizes. For the kids there will be two corn toss games, one short and one regular. Mammal’s skins can be touched and skulls of small mammals can be looked at closely. Talk about fun!At 6pm we will have a potluck dinner.
